Under licensing laws, it is an offence to knowingly allow disorderly conduct on licensed premises and this offence carries a fine of up to £1000. Any person who works in licensed premises who has the capacity to prevent such conduct could be committing an offence. Also, the licence holder, any designated premises supervisor and anyone using the premises under a temporary event notice (TEN) is at risk of prosecution for this offence.

In addition, the police have the power to issue a closure order where there is or there’s likely to be disorder and if it considers it to be in the interest of public safety to shut you down. It is important that your employees are made fully aware of the possible consequences if there is disorderly behaviour.
